Blanquerna-Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP). Master's degree in Peace, Conflict and Security Studies

This program provides students with theoretical frameworks and methodological tools to analyse and understand key issues concerning peace and conflicts. Students will acquire essential skills which will enable them to build up a career as practitioners or researchers in the areas of conflict analysis, arms control, international security, conflict prevention, peacemaking and peacebuilding. The program explores cross-cutting conflict issues and core challenges to peace sustainability from different perspectives. Our academic School covers a wide range of topics, case studies and geopolitical regions.

Furthermore, the program offers internships in institutions and organisations working on conflict prevention, arms control, peace research and education, disarmament and security policies, among others. Students are required to complete a master’s final project, consisting either of a research dissertation or an applied project report linked to their internship programme.

The Master has been designed in collaboration with the Institute for Economics and Peace and will be taught with the participation of IEP experts as well as professors from Blanquerna-Ramon Llull University and other leading institutions. The Institute for Economics and Peace is the world’s leading think tank dedicated to developing metrics to analyse peace and to quantify its economic value. It does this by developing global and national indexes, calculating the economic cost of violence, and analysing country-level risk. The Institute has also developed leading research on the understanding of the concept and practice of sustainable peace.
