Pastoral Peace Reconciliation Initiative

The official name of this organization is PPRI which stands for; Pastoral Peace & Reconciliation Initiatives. PPRI is a Community based Non-governmental organization that was formed based on pastoral communities empowerment needs by a group of intellectuals voluntarily. It operates on a not for profit-making basis with principles and philosophy aimed at effectively reaching its vision, mission and core values.
PPRI was formed in 2009 by a group of intellectuals, and other important stakeholders who include; elders, minority groups, women, youth and persons with disabilities who met to discuss the situation of the pastoral communities and established this Local NGO working on humanitarian activities throughout Somalia, and to respond to the many unique to these to pastoral communities in this country, that includes; displacement caused by inter-clan conflicts as a result of insufficient grazing pastures and water.
The PPRI organization was in community service as a local CBO based Somalia for four years and undertook various activities that included amongst others; provisions of food to the poor, widows and orphans, draught mitigation workshops, WASH programs, trauma healing workshop for district government admin and Security officers, Trauma healing training for community clan elders, training of TOT training on trauma healing and many other community activities while in partnership with international organizations.
